Give your wife a night out with the girls.  Take care of everything at home including the children.  Let her forget about her responsibilities and get some me time with her friends. 

Don't let the romance end tonight on Valentine's Day. Plan a few surprises this week that your wife won't expect: a candlelight dinner, a small gift, a card. Spend extra time planning and make this year something your wife will remember.

Find at least one night to getaway with your wife to celebrate your relationship.  Lydia and I just got back from three nights together in an Air BnB that was long overdue. Just being away from every day life and focusing on each other is important to recharge, reignite, and resurrect. 

Take a night to enjoy a movie together, either in a theater if one is open near you, or stream one at home.  Whatever you choose to watch, spend time discussing the movie after it is over.

2020 is behind us.  Most of the bills are in and it is a good time to review expenses and income for the past year.  Determine where you did well and where you need to improve. Set some goals for 2021 and create your budget.  Perhaps you want to pay off debt,  save more for college or retirement,  or go on a dream vacation.  Work together with your wife to make your plan.  If you need help in budgeting, Dave Ramsey has some great materials and courses to help.

Write your wife a note asking her for a date.  Include a place for her to respond "yes" or "no".  Leave the note on her pillow.  Plan a romantic evening somewhere you know she will like. Take care of all the details, including care for the children.

As the holidays are coming to an end, don't let all the clean up fall on your wife.  Take the lead and get the whole family involved in putting up the decorations, cleaning the house, and starting the new year right.  It is a good time to go through your storage area and get rid of things you don't need.  Don't forget to store lights neatly so you don't spend half of your next December untangling them :)

As 2020 comes to a close, take some time with your family to discuss the past year: the struggles, accomplishments, failures, good times together, things you wish would have been better, etc.  Have each person come up with what they want to do differently or start doing in the new year. Discuss a plan on how you are going to achieve your goals.  Write them down and put them on the refrigerator or bathroom mirror to remind yourself throughout the year, and hold each other accountable. 

We have a tradition to read the Christmas story before we open any presents at Christmas. This year put all the names of the main characters in a hat and have each person draw a name: Joseph, Mary, the Shepherds, the Wise Men, Herod, the Angels, etc. Have each person share what their character was thinking on their journey to the birth of Christ.  You can find the stories in Luke 2 and Matthew 1-2.   If you have a Nativity you can have each person hold the character as they tell their story.

Christmas is coming fast with only two weeks remaining. Enjoy every moment and don't forget to focus on the true meaning of the season.  Put on some Christmas tunes, take time to watch some family Christmas movies, and spend quality time together. Ask your wife what you can do to help her Christmas season be a little less stressful. Slow down and let the hope that came in a manger lead you throughout the season.
